Therapeutic laser (often referred to as cold laser) is a versatile non-invasive modality helping in treatment of both acute and chronic conditions. It is the use of focused wavelengths of light in helping to increase circulation, assist with tissue healing, reduce inflammation, and aid in pain relief. Laser treatment time often averages 10-15 min depending on the condition and size of area treated. Therefore, laser is used in conjunction with exercise and/or hands on techniques during your PT sessions to maximize outcomes.
What we offer
Laser therapy
Progressive home exercise program
Each pet will be prescribed an idividualized treatment plan and home exercise program unique to their condition and your home set up. Often times you can do exercise with things already available in your home, but if needed, Tami can recommend a few items to purchase to adjust the level of challenge as your pet's needs change.
Therapeutic exercise
Exercises include a variety of ways to target specific muscle groups and to help your pet more appropriately shift their weight towards weak limbs or away from areas of compensation. Your pet may need help with hind leg strength, core strength, balance, and/or coordination. Exercise will also focus on key elements of posture to achieve optimal alignment and reduce stress to painful areas for your pet.
Manual therapy
Tami's unique background as a physical therapist allows for a variety of manual techniques to help with improving your pet's pain and mobility. Therapy may include stretching, massage, joint mobilization, and/or traction when appropriate.
Assistive devices/Home ergonomics
Should your pet need additional support, Tami can help you find the right fit. Options may include small modifications to your home set up, adding doggie ramps/stairs, improving traction through stair treads or runners, help with assistive harness/slings, braces (both for purchase or working to find a custom fit), and even help with a cart/wheelchair.
