Where do we start?

First steps

We begin with a complimentary phone consultation to discuss your pet's needs while giving insights for expected treatment options and anticipated outcomes.  You are an integral part of the process and Tami wants to ensure success while keeping in mind your preferences, goals, and budget.  We'll then schedule a time for the initial visit at your home.  Please plan to be available for anywhere from 60-90 minutes for that first session.  Follow up appointments are 45 min in length for ongoing treatment.

Your pet must have a current established relationship with a veterinarian prior to starting PT.  We will request a referral from your vet for services and want to maintain communication with them so your pet has the best care team possible.

Comprehensive evaluation and treatment plan

Your experience begins with a review of your pet's records and history so that we know all the details.  A thorough evaluation is performed from nose to tail going at your pet's pace to ensure a positive experience.  Tami will explain all findings and answer any questions along the way.  Treatment begins at day 1 with an emphasis on what you can do to help your pet at home.  Much like people get homework from their physical therapist, you too will have a home exercise program to start at your evaluation.  Together we will come up with a plan for how often your pet will benefit from continued therapy based on your goals.  Each plan is individualized based on your pet's needs and budget.  Post operative care often times is recommended weekly to start, while some more conservative cases can be managed with less frequent visits.

FAQs

Many pets, especially dogs, really enjoy their therapy time.  They will start to feel and move better and love getting treats for exercise.  While I don't specifically work on target training, there is a bond and learning that occurs with exercise which is really fun for both therapist and dog.  Many pets enjoy their laser and massage portions as well, feeling more relaxed and comfortable following sessions. Take a look at our instagram and see for yourself.

The length of rehab can vary based on many factors including, but not limited to: your pet's condition/diagnosis, severity of the issue, age, and how they respond to treatment.  Typically, I suggest starting with sessions once a week and, over time, spread them out.  Some families choose to continue with a home exercise program once finished, while others like to keep sessions once a month for maintenance.

No, not a problem at all.  Your other pet can be present, but may need to be held next to you, on leash, or in another room to allow the focus to remain on your pet receiving treatment to ensure the best success.  If you'd like to pursue treatment for both pets, please ask about same day and family discounts available.

Most pet insurance companies cover therapy but are unique to each plan/carrier.  We recommend you contact your specific insurance company to ensure rehabilitation is covered under your plan.  Once you have had your initial evaluation, we will issue an itemized receipt for you to submit for reimbursement, as well as receipts for any follow up appointments as well.
